Safeguarding

The Methodist Church is committed to safeguarding as an integral part of its life and ministry. Safeguarding is about the action the Church takes to promote a safer culture.

This means we will:
promote the welfare of children, young people and adults
work to prevent abuse from occurring
seek to protect and respond well to those that have been abused.

Leigh and Hindley Methodist Circuit is committed to the safeguarding, care and nurture of all in our church community, particularly children, young people and vulnerable adults.

The Circuit Trustees have appointed Linda Bloomfield as the Circuit Safeguarding officer. She is responsible alongside local church safeguarding representatives for making sure that policies and procedures are followed to ensure that the young and vulnerable adults are cared for properly.

As part of this, she and the individual church representatives manage the recruitment and training of volunteers and lay workers, including obtaining Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.

Please do contact Linda via the circuit office (admin@leighandhindley.org.uk) if you have any questions about safeguarding, or about volunteer recruitment.

Further information is available on the Methodist Church website
