Join us on our Pilgrimage Against Poverty: Salford, 30 June an invitation for all Church Action on Poverty supporters in the North West about the pilgrimage.
The pilgrimage will be a gentle six-mile walk along lanes, footpaths and the side of the Bridgewater canal. Be aware that the route is not fully accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs — and it includes sections on towpaths with no barrier, so it may not be suitable for small children. We will gather at Monton Church, Monton Green, Eccles M30 8AP from 12:00pm. Refreshments will be available. The walk will begin at 1:00pm, and we will return to Monton Church by 5:00pm.

Bible Month Walt Disney gave us Pinocchio. Herman Melville gave us Moby Dick. The Old Testament gives us Jonah who, a bit like Pinocchio, has to be taught a lesson. Although there is humour in this absurd story, there is little to laugh about. Jonah is as obsessed as Captain Ahab; not with the whale but with his own brand of religion. The Revd Tom Stuckey, from his Introduction to Jonah in...
