I am attaching two letters, with apologies to those who have already received the Presidential letter. The second from me is self-explanatory.
It would be unfortunate if issues around Marriage and Relationships detracted from other issues facing us at the moment, many of which were discussed at the Conference. Further, we celebrate that for the first time in our history we have a black President. It is also of significance to us as a District that the Vice President has had a long involvement with the Methodist and Methodist/Anglican primary schools.
Please circulate these letters as widely as possible. It would be good if they could be read out on Sunday during worship, though I realise this may not be possible as some services will already have been recorded; in which case they could be included on Sunday 11th July.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our representatives to Conference for giving up their time and to thank you for what you do in your situation.
Rev Paul Martin
Chair of the Bolton and Rochdale Methodist District
