The Church was originally founded as the Wesleyan Chapel on Chapel Street, Leigh. It stood there, alongside the school, until 1987 when the new school was opened on Breaston Avenue, with the Church, as it is now, being opened in 1988. The Sunday School was founded in 1784 and celebrates it’s 220th anniversary in 2004 – it is one of the oldest continuous Sunday Schools in the country. Work on the Church was started in 1792 and it was opened on Easter Day 1793.
The Church shares a site with Bedford Hall Methodist Primary School and the two have always had a close working relationship. Thus the school has a Christian ethos which was commended at the recent Ofsted inspection.
The school is friendly, caring and also received commendation for its good academic standards.
There is before and after school care in the recently established “O-zone Club” which is supported by a number of church members, as indeed are many activities in the school.
